Why do we love spinach? That’s right, for giving strength. Remember, as in that cartoon about the sailor Popeye? So, today on the menu on the blog we’ll have a spinach pie. But not simple, but vegan. As always, I will share a simple and tasty recipe.
How to make vegan spinach pie?
First, you need such ingredients:
- 1 onion;
- 700 g whole grain flour;
- 1/3 glass of olive oil;
- 1 tablespoon of sugar;
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt;
- spices to taste;
- 2 bundles of fresh spinach;
- 1 pack of dry yeast;
- 400 ml of warm water.
Make spinach pie step by step:
Step 1. Dilute yeast in 200 ml of warm water, add a teaspoon of sugar. Allow to stand for 15 minutes.
Step 2. Put flour in a deep bowl, add olive oil, 200 ml of warm water, a tablespoon of sugar and a teaspoon of salt. Stir.
Step 3. Add to the dough the yeast prepared on the first step. Stir and allow to rise. Cover and leave in a warm place for 1 hour.
Step 4. Cut the onions finely. Cut the spinach not very finely. Place an olive oil pan in the middle fire, heat it up. Put the chopped onion and fry for about 1 minute.
Then add the spinach, stir well, add salt and spices to taste and fry for another 2-3 minutes.
Step 5. Knead the dough again. Then divide it into two parts and roll each one into layers according to the size of the mold in which you will bake.
Step 6. Cover the baking mold with parchment. Put one layer of dough on it. Place the spinach and onion stuffing evenly on top of dough. Leave indents 1 cm along the edges. Put a second layer on top. Clip the edges.
Step 7. Bake the pie in the oven at 356 °F for 30-40 minutes.
